Clinton School Committee Approves Five Policies, Eyes $4 Million Middle School Savings

School Committee · Meeting of January 27, 2026

Clinton School Committee approves five fundraising and activity policies and hears of $4 million in middle school bid savings. The committee voted unanimously Tuesday to adopt all five policies on second reading, with Superintendent Steve (surname unconfirmed in transcript) noting that implementation would focus on the start of the 2026-27 school year to avoid disrupting plans already underway, particularly for booster clubs facing new Title IX equity requirements. The superintendent also reported that bids on the Clinton Middle School building project show projected savings of just over $4 million against the amount approved at town meeting, with the MSBA expected to keep its reimbursement fixed so all savings return to the town.

A preliminary FY27 budget was distributed showing expenses up roughly $4.2 million, including a new $275,000 telephone upgrade line item the district may seek to fund through a separate town warrant article. Clinton Elementary School was named one of 63 state Schools of Recognition for math achievement and growth, and the district was awarded 96 early literacy high-dosage tutoring seats, up from 65 in prior years.
