School Committee · Meeting of August 24, 2026
Clinton School Committee reviewed a two-way traffic plan for Ash Street as the Church Street culvert project runs behind schedule. Dr. Meyer told the committee paving on Church Street is now scheduled for September 1 and 2, well after an original end-of-July target, and said a "break glass" contingency could route students through a Town Hall drop-off with police escort if detours overwhelm Ash Street. Director of Facilities Brian Parker reported a $200,000 warrant article funding phased HVAC upgrades and a Fuller Field scoreboard installation anticipated in October.
Slides from the August 18 Middle School Building Committee meeting showed the project's budget committed at $125.5 million, with $48 million spent, $23 million reimbursed and a $9.6 million uncommitted balance, roughly $6.5 million of it in contingency. The town's bond rating held at AA+ on a rate near 4.12 percent. Verizon is retiring the schools' Centrix phone line in October; Dr. Meyer said notice "has not made it to us until July," calling it "a concern that was never enacted on."
