School Committee · Meeting of August 10, 2026
Clinton School Committee adopted a bell-to-bell cell phone ban, waiving a second reading to approve policy JICJA. Dr. Meyer told the board Clinton High School will pilot an app called Doorman that locks phones until 2:09 p.m., calling it a way to get "ahead of" a pending state law, noting "Massachusetts is one of 14 states that doesn't already have this." The committee also adopted the Special Education Stabilization Fund on a second reading after Select Board review, and heard that federal Title I funding fell about $12,000 while Title IV rose $775. One member said eliminating the high school's "bring your own device" policy risked limiting a tool that "should be something that I feel like we should be empowering, not limiting," though the handbooks passed unanimously.
The Adult Learning Center reported 221 evening ESOL students and a growing waiting list.
