Planning Board, Selectmen Revive License Subcommittees
Clinton's Planning Board and Board of Selectmen voted to revive a joint subcommittee on car-dealer license enforcement after years of unresolved violations.
Planning Board · Meeting of August 4, 2026
Clinton's Planning Board and Board of Selectmen voted to revive a joint subcommittee on car-dealer license enforcement after years of unresolved violations. Chair Paul Curran said a 678 Main Street dealer licensed for nine vehicles was repeatedly found with 16 to 22 cars, with customers crossing traffic to reach overflow parking; another Main Street lot licensed for 12 vehicles was counted with 24. Curran called for requiring an engineered site plan at every license renewal and said, "I'd like to see a moratorium on new licenses," though members noted that requires a Town Meeting vote.
Member Douglas Price pushed for documented violation tracking tied to renewals. Separately, the board denied a stalled site plan for Mr. Moe's Golf at 219 Brook Street, approved special permits for James Tumalo at 386 Berlin Street and for Meeting House Way Partners LLC at 3 and 4 Meeting House Way, and continued an auto-body site plan at 1042 Main Street pending a revised, engineer-stamped parking plan.
