Planning Board · Meeting of July 7, 2026
Clinton Planning Board approves two changes of use and pushes back sharply on a Laney's Lofts expansion bid. The board, meeting July 7 with reduced membership, quickly approved a fitness center relocation, Best Family Fitness moving from 360 High Street to 60 High Street, and a church change of use at 60 Water Street, while granting continuances on three other matters. The most extended exchange involved David Leao of Laney's Lofts, who appeared to test board appetite for a proposed roughly 80-unit, 55-and-over housing development at 530R Main Street; the chair rejected any formal application outright until parking and drainage problems at the existing Main Street properties are resolved.
"Let's finish one project before we start another," the chair said, citing ongoing complaints about cars on sidewalks, an unstriped rear lot, and stormwater being pumped 500 feet uphill pending Conservation Commission approval. The board agreed to a site walk with the building inspector the following week. A citizen's complaint from resident Jim Marino about a business he said is running three or four operations without a zoning permit at the Reisner's property, including alleged floodplain filling, prompted the board to commit to sending a letter to Town Counsel before the August meeting.
