Zoning Board of Appeals · Meeting of September 8, 2026
Clinton's Zoning Board of Appeals approved a porch-expansion special permit and delayed a contested case. The board unanimously granted Michelle Gary a special permit to rebuild and widen her front porch at 16 Crown Street, finding the pre-existing nonconforming structure's setbacks unchanged. A separate special permit case involving a petitioner called "Big Daddy" at 23 Coin Street was continued to October 13, 2026, after a resident identified as a "designated point of contact" said as many as 40 neighbors could attend.
The board also gave informal, nonbinding feedback to a prospective buyer of 789 Main Street who wants to open a gelato production and catering kitchen, saying the town's building inspector would ultimately decide whether a special permit is required. New Town Administrator Karen Clark introduced herself, saying "I love my three-minute commute. I love seeing the fountain outside of my window." The board took no action on a resident letter about commercial vehicles parked on residential streets, saying that falls to the Planning Board and police.
