Clinton Retirement Board voted 4-1 to keep fighting litigation tied to the Massachusetts Teachers' Retirement System rather than pay a $28,000 exit fee. Administrator Patricia Hazel told the board the case has already cost $13,800, with roughly $3,000 more needed to finish. One member who dissented said the case "has bothered me since I've been on the board," while member James McNamara cast what members called the deciding vote, saying simply, "I say continue." Separately, the board set a $65,000 to $75,000 salary range for a new administrative trainee position meant to groom a successor to Hazel, approved a $512,685.69 warrant, enrolled new member Karen Clark effective July 6, and voted to post its upcoming board election by August 21, with McNamara confirming he will seek re-election.
