CLINTON — The Clinton Council on Aging reviewed a fiscal 2027 budget that keeps senior center salaries well below comparable towns. The center's executive director told board members the program coordinator earns $40,000 a year, below a statewide range of $45,000 to $60,000, while the outreach coordinator earns $43,000 against a $47,000-to-$60,000 range. A proposed step raise for one employee, called Kaylee in the discussion, would lift her pay to just $41,441.

The director also disclosed a kitchen grease trap had not been cleaned since 2020 and said carriage house renovations are on hold pending a Department of Public Works review of a water line that could add $35,000 to the project. "We have to kind of support the idea of a decent salary to keep qualified people here," the director said. No votes were taken; the budget goes to the Finance Committee and Select Board April 1.
