Clinton Select Board Approves Town Meeting Warrant, Pulls Personnel Bylaw Article

CLINTON — May 6, 2026 — Clinton Select Board approves Town Meeting warrant and endorses $500,000 special education stabilization fund. The board voted 5-0 Wednesday to accept the draft annual Town Meeting warrant minus a placeholder article on personnel bylaw changes that has not cleared the Personnel Board, and unanimously endorsed a $500,000 appropriation to establish a special education reserve fund after a board member who also sits on the School Committee described three students who had become the district's responsibility at a combined cost of roughly $900,000 in a single year. In a separate 4-1 vote, the board approved a Class 2 used car dealer license transfer for Statewide Enterprises Inc., allowing up to 10 vehicles at a new location at 865 Main Street. Clinton Firefighters Local 3189 President P.J. Chamberlain used public comment to rebut remarks from the April 23 joint board meeting, presenting figures showing the department incurred approximately $470,356 in overtime costs through 47 weeks of the prior year and arguing that hiring additional firefighters would cost less than sustaining current overtime levels. The Finance Committee's budget public hearing is expected May 21.
