CLINTON — The Bigelow Free Public Library Board of Trustees approved an amended crisis policy clarifying when staff must call 911 and formed a new ad hoc committee to draft the board's first bylaws. Library Director Karen reported the Friends' book sale raised $1,100 plus $90 in donations over three nights, and a $2,500 Greater Worcester Foundation grant will fund Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month programming next May. Trustees weighed expanding the library's 50 weekly open hours after Karen attended a rural-libraries conference, saying "we feel like we should be open more," but opted to fold the question into the 2024-2028 strategic plan rather than act immediately.
The board tabled a separate library card policy for further editing and rescheduled its next meeting from October 27 to October 23 at 5 p.m. via Zoom, after member travel conflicts, with plans to invite the town administrator, whose introduction to the board was postponed a month because of illness.
