Clinton Finance Committee Unanimously Approves $617,000 in Retroactive Wages

CLINTON — June 1, 2026 — Clinton Finance Committee approves $617,000 in retroactive wages for five town departments. The committee voted unanimously June 1 to authorize retro pay for police, dispatch, facilities, fire, and ambulance employees under Articles 19 through 23 of the Town Meeting warrant, drawing $617,000 from free cash and an additional $171,000 from the ambulance enterprise fund to cover ambulance-specific wages. The action leaves Clinton with roughly $500,000 or less of the approximately $3 million in free cash that was available at the start of fiscal year 2026, as the town will have spent just under $2.5 million of that balance in total. The underlying contracts carry a 2.5 percent raise for fiscal year 2026. The committee also signaled at least one additional meeting before July 15 to complete mandatory year-end departmental budget transfers before the fiscal year closes.
